Dates to note in 2024

(Click on the links for more details.)

23 March – The Sherpa bus timetable switched from the low winter service to the high-season service, and buses all round the mountain are now more frequent, especially from the Park & Ride (at Nant Peris) to Pen y Pass and Llanberis. The current high-season timetables are available to download.

23 March – Parking at Pen y Pass reverted from Pay & Display to pre-booking, a system which is now in its fourth year. Bookings can be made for any date during the season.

23 March – The Snowdon Mountain Railway resumed running trains to and from Clogwyn, which is about ¾ of the way up the Llanberis Path, and a mile from the summit.

15 May – Trains resumed running to the summit, so Hafod Eryri, the summit building, is now open for the season (weather permitting) until 27 October.

10 June – Steam engines started additionally operating on the Snowdon Mountain Railway (Mon – Fri).

20 July – The Snowdon Race will see 600 elite runners on the Llanberis Path, starting at 2pm. If you can, it’s best to avoid the Llanberis Path on this date, and even on the Pyg Track and Snowdon Ranger it will get very congested between Bwlch Glas and the summit. (Before this, there are junior races on the lower part of the path.)

A train approaches the summit

September – The railway is now only running a diesel service for the final month of the season, not steam.

31 October – Trains will stop running for the season, and Hafod Eryri, the summit building, will close for the winter.

Monday 4 November – Parking at Pen y Pass will revert to Pay & Display for the winter.

Monday 4 November – The Sherpa bus timetable will be downgraded to the less frequent winter service.
