Whilst most people are happy to keep to the six main paths up Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa), other options are available for more experienced walkers:
- The Horns – a different, mostly grassy route between Bwlch y Moch (on the Pyg Track) and Pen y Pass.
- The South Ridge (Allt Maenderyn) – a different route to/from the summit which can be combined with the Rhyd Ddu Path or the Watkin Path.
- Crib Goch – a ridge walk/scramble, linking to the summit via Carnedd Ugain; not for the inexperienced.
- Crib Goch North Ridge and the Fox’s Path – a variation on the usual ascent route (above); not for the inexperienced.
- Y Lliwedd – the southern half of the Snowdon Horseshoe, which can be used as a different ascent from Llyn Llydaw on the Miners’ Track up to the summit, joining the final part of the Watkin Path.
- The Snowdon Horseshoe – a challenging loop from Pen y Pass, combining Crib Goch, the summit and Y Lliwedd; not for the inexperienced.
- The Gribin – a ridge walk/scramble, linking Glaslyn on the Miners’ Track to Bwlch y Saethau on the Watkin Path; not for the inexperienced.
- The Southern Horseshoe – a challenging loop from Pont Bethania (at the bottom of the Watkin Path) combining Y Lliwedd, the summit and the South Ridge.
- The Tryfan and Llechog Ridge – a more challenging route from Llanberis to the summit, largely avoiding the main path.
- The Maesgwm Round – a 12-mile loop from Llanberis, taking in the Llanberis Path, most of the Snowdon Ranger Path, and Maesgwm.
- The North-West Ridge – a challenging approach to the summit from Llanberis, combining 4 minor peaks and the Snowdon Ranger Path.
- The Snowdon Circular – a partly completed low-level walk around the base of the Snowdon massif.
