This round of 7½ miles starts and finishes in Llanberis, and ascends the tops of Moel Eilio (726m), Foel Gron (629m) and Foel Goch (605m) before descending back round the far side of Cwm Dwythwch. Although it does not go up to Snowdon summit, it explores its foothills, and the summit and the Llanberis Path will be in view for much of the time.
In total there is nearly 2,500ft of ascent.
Starting from Llanberis, this demanding ridge walk takes in these three grassy summits (part of the North-west ridge) before descending to join the Llanberis Path near Pen Ceunant café.
Moel Eilio (right), with the other two lower peaks to the left. Cwm Dwythwch and its lake lie behind the ridge in the foreground, as seen here from the Llanberis Path
Although the three summits can be seen from the Llanberis Path up Snowdon, Cwm Dwythwch, with its lake, Llyn Dwythwch, are largely hidden from view.
